    AVG and Wondows Updates trouble

    Hello,
I have set up a laptop for someone with very limited knowledge or understanding of system security.

I have set the windows 7 updates to automatic, however it appears that AVG is preventing successful installations. Can I write a batch file to run at shutdown to temp disable AVG so when the updates?

I haven't access to this laptop to test it out, was thinking would the script run before windows atttempts to run any updates?

If so what commands could I use in the script?

is it task kill or something? many thanks in advance.

I no security expert but if it was my computer I would remove AVG using there online removal tool and install Microsoft Security Essentials.
Then I would run sfc /scannow as per tutorial.

    Tutorial by Brink.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

I would agree any security suite which blocks windows updates is whacky and needs to be removed asap,

IMHO, AVG is closer to a virus than a anti-virus. Dump AVG and install MSE. MSE well free up resources and run much smoother.
