Windows 7: Best Paid AV Suite

Bitdefender Total Security 2013 is my choice for AV. I also run the free version of Malwarebytes and the paid for version of SuperAntispyware one a week. Once a month I run ESET and MRT. This and a good dump of surfing common sense has kept my system safe thus far.

Re Bitdefender the only downside is it cannot run with the paid for version of Malwarebytes but this has not caused me anything other than mild inconvenience (I had already paid for Malwarebytes long before I purchased Bitdefender!). Other than this I find Bitdefender totally unobtrusive, it just does its job and is in no way a system hog unlike Nortons etc.

AV is always going to be down to personal choice but having, over the years, tried many of the AV software packages I can confidently state that Bitdefender is one of the better packages currently available.

I hope this helps.

Andy

From my experience of trying the internet security versions:

  • BitDefender - Resource hogger (lags games), update fails 90% of the time, just seems a bit clunky for something thats supposed to be the best AV.
  • Kaspersky - Lots of notifications and requires alot of configuring (can be very intrusive), well designed UI though, and good scanners.
  • Avast - Very good UI and easy to manage BUT the scans are the slowest in comparison to the other AV's
  • AVG - I trusted this one for years but eventually it develops bugs and isn't as good as it was.
  • Eset - Configuring would be hard for inexperienced users but it is good at scanning, web protection.
My choice is MSE, Windows Firewall and/or Malwarebytes/Hitman Pro for support.

MSE or Paid AV?
Hello Everyone, I just recently reformated my computer and it is running great! Right now, I am using MSE, and I love it! Practically no resource use, it's quiet, and from what I heard, a very good AV. However, my ISP is offering Norton 360 v4 for free, and I am wondering if I should use that....
