Router firewall is enough?
I have a Router with the built in firewall enabled. Does my PC's firewall add extra security or can I disable it and have the router's firewall take charge of my LAN's security?

Leave the computers firewall enabled. It provides an extra level of security which is an established principle in security. The OS firewall is able to do things the routers firewall cannot. About the only time you would disable the OS firewall is in a computer with no Internet access or in a corporate network.

Can you disable your PC firewall, sure you can.
Is it a wise thing to do NO NO NO.
Computing has always had security risk. Todays risk are many times more than they were just a few years ago.
In my opinion one must have a layered protection and using both a router and a system firewall helps that layered method.
Now if your system was in a corporate domain or network the I.T. Department would be taking care of such things.

Thanks for the replies, and actually I agree with the many layer advice.
On a separate note, I detected something weird when testing the security. I have a Win 7x64 PC with NIS2013 behind a firewalled Router. When the PC was connected directly to the Internet (no router, just the modem),it passed ShieldsUP! test. When I added the Router for some reason it would not pass the test, so I tweaked the Router configuration (not exactly knowing what I did, but I disabled a function called "internal pings" or something like that), and after doing so the PC+Router passed the test.Any feedback on this? Did the router by default had some port open or closed and not shielded?
