    Access Denied on 'Documents & Settings' although UAS is set to off


    I'm logged in as an administrator; I open Windows Explorer using 'Run as administrator' and try to access 'Documents & Settings'. Although UAS is set to off (i.e. the slider is at the bottom of its range) I still get 'Access Denied'.

    I tried to run Group Management Console but the file gmcp.msc is not on this machine and when I try to download it I get an unhelpful message saying there are incompatibility issues but don't give any details - typical MS!

    Windows 7 home Premium, fully up-to-date.

    Can anyone help on this please?

    OK, I found a way. Just take ownership of the folder! Easy as that. Don't know why the UAC is still causing problems though, even though it's effectively turned off?

I can no longer access my 'Documents and Settings' folder, each time I try, I get a message saying 'Access denied'. I tried running a search for files I know are within that folder, but the search just seems to bypass that folder altogether. I tried a system restore, but that didn't help either....

My 'User Account Type' is 'Administrator', yet access is denied when I try and enter Documents & Settings. This has just started to happen. I must have ticked a box somewhere! Any ideas how I can regain access?
