Where do I get a MS security essentials 64 bit?

I tried installing the MS security essentials that I downloaded from the Microsoft site but my laptop told me that this is a 32 bit version that cannot be installed on a 64 bit PC?

If you download from CNET be careful that nothing else gets installed!

If you or anyone else wants to download 64 Bit from an MS site, click on Select your version for your Language from this page:
Download Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

Microsoft software is best downloaded from a Microsoft website. Otherwise you can't be sure of what you are getting. CNET and many other download sites will often bundle a download with other software, such as toolbars.

How come I never have trouble with "extra" downloads when I get stuff from Cnet or anywhere else?

It must be because I actually pay attention during a software install and uncheck boxes when asked if I want to add a toolbar or search engine.

Yes I have been bitten by CNET's bundled downloads so I avoid CNET. I googled "microsoft security essentials 64 bit" and got dozens of download sites which I know will download viruses and false programs so I ignored these and insisten on downloading it from the MS site.

DavidW7ncus, thank you for the link.

Yeah, downloading programs from the official website allows little chance of extra issues.
