Antivirus has been disabled twice now, what's going on?

Hello there everyone on the sevenforums! I just registered here and I'm asking what's up with my antivirus. It's been disabled twice now since I've uninstalled avast! and installed avira antivir instead. For those using avira, have you had this problem? And I don't know if it's disabled, I get a windows error message indicating that it's turned off, but it usually turns on again after a while. I don't know if it's automatically turned on or if it turns on when I press to activate antivir desktop from windows messages in system tray.

Oh, and one other question, is MSE antivirus any good? I've heard it uses a lot of memory (~50 mega?), would it affect the performance of my PC?

MSE is a good option if you prefer and use Internet explorer,
If you prefer and use another browser possibly not,
Also MSE receives all of it's updates through the Windows update system as Optional updates so if you've altered the way you receive Optional updates it might also be not such a good idea to have.
Just how many Security suites have you used ?
Have they been remove properly because a bad Uninstall can make things worse.

Hello. I've used Comodo firewall without antivirus, that I uninstalled because I didn't like it and I've heard the windows firewall is good enough. And then I've used avast! and then uninstalled it and switched to avira. And I didn't use the mentioned (in their websites) avast! uninstaller, I used CCleaner instead to search for any avast entries it found. I went trough every section individually and deleted every avast entry. And I've also later read that CCleaner doesn't remove the registry entries, just the paths or whatever they're called? And is it normal for avira when it updates the definitions that it makes my laptop fan go loud and resource usage increase? It's just when it updates definitions, avast didn't do that though.

And MSE gets every update through windows update center? I'm not sure I would like that...

Yea that's why I mentioned it,
Most people have learned to Review Optional updates first before downloading and installing them,
I do it as well but don't mind Manually checking for updates either most free utilities require it anyway so I'm used to it,

Using ccleaner is not my first choice as a Uninstaller or otherwise but many people recommend it but not so much as a uninstaller,
Revo is a better option but the Uninstaller is the best option for Security suites because they are often deeply rooted.
Possibly starting over and Uninstall your Present security and re-downloading Avast and using it's recommended uninstaller would possibly help ?

Hmm, maybe. Now, how do I use the uninstaller? I've read that you've got to go to safe mode to use it properly and then there was some other solution I read that didn't require the use of safe mode? And sorry, I'm kind of a beginner and uncomfortable with these sort of things.. as I've not done it before. I do know of safe mode and know how to go there, but never used it myself.

Let's see how many security programs are actually running on your computer.

Download DDS from one of these links:
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt

Scan complete. Huh, didn't think the logs would be in Swedish, lol. But you can probably see what the virus files are anyway ( I had 5, oh my..). Oh, and this is the first log that appears, I didn't save the other log. But it removed every one of them.
