Windows 7's Default Security Applications

Been reading around and researching a bit and I'm hearing REALLY mixed things about the MSE / default Defrag / Windows Firewall when in comparisn to third-party applications such as ESET nod32 / O&O / ZoneAlarm.

The majority seem to favour third-party utilities because of general distrust in Microsoft and a number of other factors vague to me.

Examples include some users claiming that relying on a second-party / default security suite is very risky, given Microsoft's history. Others just seem to think third-party aps are better.

Currently I am using MSE / default Defrag / Windows Firewall and CCleaner.

However due to the above reasons I am having trouble deciding whether I should pick an independant security application for given tasks.

What is sevenforums' consensus?

He zythl, Welcome to the forums!

As Im sure that you know, when discussing security, you will find all sorts of opinions on which software to use and the ones to avoid. The ultimate answer is which one does what you need it to do. Your current setup should serve you well, with one suggestion..Download Windows 7 Firewall Control... It makes using the default firewall much easier.. Download it -=> here

tews is right... its serve u best... if u change dis time.. u will always be changing.. because there is always some weak point in all Antivirus ...

mse getting good review .. dont be suspicious about it.. mse is lacking behavior virus detection .. so if want u can use pctools threatfire along with mse.. dats all
