I changed user permissions now I don't have any icons on my desktop.

    I know this was dumb...
I was trying to access a couple folders and changed the permissions to what I thought would simply allow me to access all data on the drive. Only to find out that I have no icons on desktop any longer. I look in windows explorer and don't even see the users folder anymore either. It is still there but can't get there. Can someone help me figure out how to get it all back the way it was?

There is nothing to see. Just an empty desktop. I did a "restore" and it pulled back some of my icons but I can't find my personal data anylonger. I know this is a permissions issue I am just not sure how to go about correcting it.

Do you know what changes you made to permissions?

You could try enabling the built-in Administrator account, log into that Account, and see if you can "undo" your changes.
