Windows 7: Windows Security Center won't turn on

Sorry, no. I did it wrong... I'm going to try it right now again. Mark the 100mb partition as active. Now, can I just hit f8 to get to the repair tool installed locally on the machine, instead of using the cd I burned with the repair on it. Does it matter? I was using the cd most of the time, and realized the repair can be found by hitting f8 on my system with no CD needed...

Did it with F8, 3 times after making the 100mb partition active, each repair said no problems found, and same end result. I can't get this thing to behave any differently than it has been.

What about running combofix from the usb drive?

I always use repair on the DVD because the onboard one can be infected too. But if it ran to completion then maybe not.

Does an install show up to repair and report the correct size?

Have you been doing other repairs that we are not aware of? This can scramble the OS so that it is irreparable. But you can't even judge until it is cleaned up. Go back to the top and check off everything the malware experts have told you, work with them until you get a clean bill of health before trying the repair regimen again.

Everything else that can be done to start Win7 is in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

Yes Greg, take a look here:
black screen when trying to boot, and registry keeps changing winlogon? - Page 2 - Tech Support Guy

Under these circumstances, it is my opinion this OP should receive no more help from us.

What do you mean does an install show up to repair?

I haven't done any other repairs, but get advice and had another post that didn't get replied to right away, then did, but nothing has been changed. ALso, had a few friends look at my logs that can't deal this deep.

The other thing I did was run an offline scan of windows defender via usb stick 30 min ago, and it found 0 errors. I still just can't believe something can't be repairable
