Windows 7: IE Hacker Problem

IE Hacker Problem

I copy/pasted the question below from Microsoft Community forum:

"What is everyone doing about the hacker problem with IE 6-11?
Would it be best to un-install IE completely OR disable all Adobe Flash functions until a patch is discovered?"

The reason I am posting it here is because that forum is very slow. (I guess 7 forum has spoiled me a bit)

Right now I have just switched to FF although I'd really rather use IE-11. And I am heavily dependent on Flash Player.

FF is less affected by malware and it runs Flash player fine, just download it in the browser. May be a plugin, can't remember, but FF will tell you if one is needed.

I've not noticed any FP malfunction with either IE or FF. I am just concerned about this recent IE red alert from Homeland Security.

Even chrome has a built in flash player. A red alert? I would strongly suggest you using FF or Chrome just to protect you from a attack.

That alert has nothing to do with Flash, it is a problem with IE. There was a different problem with Flash and it was fixed with the update to Flash version 13.0.0.206. MS is still working on the fix for IE.

Apparently hackers used FP to attack IE.

And yes, the most recent announcement from Adobe is that FP hole(which has been fixed) is very similar to that of IE (which is still un-fixed) and the two holes are entirely unrelated.

Hi JBMorris...I noticed you are using XP? I hope you are not using IE 6 with it.

nope. IE 8. But i don't really use it. Because the application is exploited. I use FF(FireFox) or chrome.
Thanks for checking. I may upgrade soon.
