    What does this mean?

    One for one of our guru's as I am at a loss as to what to do.

    Recently when running AdwCleaner i get these 2 lines which are removed upon cleaning but are back whenever I use the internet.

    Found [Search Provider] : hxxp://uk.ask.com/web?q={searchTerms}
    Found [Search Provider] : hxxp://en.softonic.com/s/{searchTerms}

    I have run a multitude of security programs including all the usual stuff and nothing else other than AdwCleaner detects these 2 items.

    What are they and are they something I need to worry about. Is there anything I can do to rid my PC of them for good?

    Yes, they are to be concerned with! They are 'browser hijackers' and need to be removed... rescan with AdwCleaner
    This time click on the Clean button.
    Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
    Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
    After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
    A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder

    Download DDS from one of these links:
    DDS.com
    DDS.pif
    • Disable any script blocking protection
    • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
    • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
      1. DDS.txt
      2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
    • Save both reports to your desktop.

    Include the contents of both logs in your next post.

    Thank you Jacee, I really appreciate your help. I had already run both apps as you suggested, removed those 2 hijackers and deleted the reports as I didn't think I would need them

    If I have any more issues with this I will do as you suggest re the reports.
