    All my Firewall options are grayed out, please help.


    All my Firewall options are grayed out and i can make no changes at all. Can someone please help me. I have a Windows 7 computer.

    1.) Please Run sfc /scan now using option 2 in this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Please post back the results.
    Please indicate what message was displayed at the end:

    Windows found no integrity violations

    OR

    Corrupt files were found, and windows was unable to fix them.

    OR

    Corrupt files were found, and windows successfully repaired them

    2.) * Download the Farbar Service Scanner.

    * Once download, right click the fss.exe file, and choose run as administrator.

    *Checkmark the following boxes:

    -Internet services
    -Windows firewall
    -System Restore
    -Security center/action center
    -Windows Update
    -Windows defender

    *Click Scan. A notepad window will appear with your log file. Save it to the desktop. Then upload the log here in your next reply using the paperclip on the reply box.

I just noticed that Windows Update options are grayed out in the drop down menu. I checked group policy and it is set to 'let me choose' which is what is displayed on the WU screen. I can modify it in group policy to something else but I can not change it to anything else on the Windows Update...
Working on my son's laptop and it had some sort of virus and not group policy is not accessible, cannot turn on firewall nor update the virus software from MS. Looked at several solutions and none work. What is the skinny on what caused it and how do I fix? Thanks!
Hey, I need to change an allowed program from the firewall on my laptop (Win 7 64 bit), but when I go to the menu where I would go in and allow the program, the 'Change Settings' button is grayed out.. and I'm an administrator. Any help for how to be able to click that button?
