Is there a legal way to add to use BitLocker on Windows 7 Home 64-bit?

If so where do I find it to download it and what is the process to d/l and use it.
I am interested to replace my existing TrueCrypt functionality particularly to encrypt the full access to the PC or at least to its multiple SSD and HDD drives inside it.
In case it would not be possible, which third party Encrypting software is the best for my purpose?

Thank you for your eventual contributions over this issue.

    I would suggest "DiskCryptor" - https://diskcryptor.net/wiki/Main_Page

Btw, i never personally used it. My suggestion is based on generally positive reviews across various sites and forums.

As I read Microsoft's EULA anything done that might allow BitLocker to work with unsupported Windows editions would be a violation of the agreement.

Do we can install Bitlocker for windows 7 home premium (64 - Microsoft Community

    Thank you both

Thank you for responding. The comment about the legality issue was really helpful so I am forgetting about using BitLocker.

The remaining part now is: I am interested to replace my existing TrueCrypt functionality particularly to encrypt the full access to the PC or at least to its multiple SSD and HDD drives inside it. so which third party Encrypting software is the best for my purpose?

I would like to "hear" your different opinions and reasons for them

    Thanks

May I ask, why replace TrueCrypt in first place? It's a superior option to BitLocker, and it still works perfectly for most uses. No idea what the alternatives ofter, but as long as it's enough for you, I don't see the reason for a change.

TrueCrypt has been abandoned by the developers, they even encourage their clients to use BitLocker From Windows. It has been recently divulged in many tech sites. I am concerned that somehow i could be left locked out to access my computer that is under TrueCrypt password

Truecrypt is still really strong encryption even though it has been abandoned.

I'm very aware of its recent abandonment, but that's don't means anything for the end user. TrueCrypt, as well as any program in the same situation, will continue to work exactly as it did before (it runs 100% local after all). There is no way that event will lock you out of your disk, neither that it suddenly becomes insecure as they're trying to make you believe. An even intriguing word is that an open program suggest a proprietary software piece as a viable replacement.

Abandonment in particular affects any newly discovered bug, as they'll not be fixed. New features will not be added too. Concern may appear if a critical bug does appear. Compatibility with future OSs may be a problem too, and competing tools may add new features that TC will not have and cannot add. On the flip side, remember that TrueCrypt is open source (with a special license), that means that anyone can really pick the project, fork it and continue with it.

Lastly, there is an intense work ongoing in an independent audit to it here: Is TrueCrypt Audited Yet?
There you can find a detailed report indicating existing problems with it and security analysis. Even though it found some bugs, none of them seems particularly bad, overall it seems quite good tool after all.

Thank you Alejandro for your heads up report on....

... what is happening with the present and future of TrueCrypt.

Your comments reassure me not to abandon ship with TrueCrypt (at least not just yet).

Thank you again. Do you still live in Buenos Aires?
