Permissions is driving me crazy!

I am confused.. In Windows 7, what was the Documents and Settings folder in XP, is now the "Users" folder in 7, which can be found in the root of C: usually.. There were a number of security changes to the file system that were made starting in Vista an cont'd in 7, that once understood, are pretty easy to work with. I had my share of pains with them at first, but now I am more on the side of seeing the advantages.. I am still trying to get clear in this thread, what exactly you are trying to access.

Sorry about the "jump" post. Back to user controls. OK...I have two Administrator accounts. One is my original, the other, strangely enough, was added when I was trying to get my sound problem worked out. I haven't a clue how the second Administrator account was added (either when I downloaded the latest Realtek drivers for my on board sound OR when I subsequently deactivated on board and installed an Audigy 2 ZS) . In User Accounts, I can not turn the second account off yet I have read and followed a forum guide on booting without having to select an account. However, I would like to delete the second account if anyone could suggest how.

In order to delete an account, you have to log in with a different account, generally one with admin privileges. Are you sure the account you wish to delete is not the one with which you are currently logged in... Another possibility, there is an administrator accnt that is not enabled by default, but that exists within the system. This is the true administrator account within the system, and as I said, for security reasons, it is disabled by default. If you are calling your account administrator and seeing two separate accounts in the system named administrator, this is most likely what is happening.. See:

I don't know why but my last post didn't show up. Sorry about the audio problem post....guess it got in the wrong topic.

Anyways, I have turned off permissions in folder options and have modified User controls. The problem is I have two administrator accounts showing. When I was trying to install the latest Realtek driver somehow another administrator account was added. When I try to delete it, it is not identified as something I can delete. I have found other posts in the forum about how to skip the boot up administration page and I do go directly into my desktop without having to select an account. But I would still like to remove the second administrator added by my Realtek new driver download.

Did you enable the built in Administrator account prior to loading the driver, and make yourself this administrator, or did you create a new account in the beginning called Administrator?

In the beginning I set myself up as the admin. Apparently shortly after installing Win 7 I added another admin account when I installed the latest Realtek drivers. Unfortunately I completed loading all my programs under the second admin account. Meanwhile the first account is NOT cancellable but doesn't have my programs I subsequently loaded on the second admin account. Is there some quick and easy way I can transfer the second account desktop settings, files added, programs, etc to the account I can not cancel and then cancel the one I can? This is not a big problem, just a minor annoyance so I am living with it but........

Yes, just search in the start bar, "User Account Control" and just scroll it all the way down. You won't be bothered anymore.
