    File Saving Problems

This is a head scratcher. It seems like whenever I try to save a file that wasn't made by this new Win 7 system it tells me the file is locked. New files made on this system are no problem to open, modify and save, but old files, not made by this system I can open, modify, but cannot overwrite. And I have perhaps 25000 files like that!!!! Any ideas here?

Thank you! I need a global solution...

"Global"? As in you'd rather not implement 25,000 different solutions? :)

Does the same symptom occur if you test in safe mode? (Press F8 during startup to get there.)

    Solution Found

I got some tech support from ProShow Gold 4.0 (Photodex) that solved this problem, too. The apps I was having most trouble with were Word 2000 and PhotoShop 7, legacy stuff. The fix from Photodex was to run the program as administrator, and that's the global solution. I guess it was all about the way older programs handle permissions.

Thanks for your interest, and please pass this on.

Also discovered all my non Windows 7 computers were in my Network, not my Homegroup, where I thought they'd be (and thought my network wasn't connecting).
