Windows 7 UAC Problem

Hello everyone!

I'm running a windows 7 home premium 32-bit operating system PC. MY problem is that when I turn on the UAC and restart my PC I can't access the task manager anymore. I mean when I right click on the taskbar> Start task manager I get the following error message: "the requested operation requires elevation". I have full access to the whole PC, logged is as administrator.
But the interesting thing is that when I turn off the UAC I can open the taskmgr without any problems. This error is really annoying for me, because I use this PC in an office and I wanted to creat a standard user account that is why I turned UAC on.

Here are my spec's if it helps:

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+
MB: ASUSTeK Computer INC. M2N-MX SE Plus
RAM: 2,00 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit 7601 Service Pack 1

Any help will be very welcome!
Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to SevenForums!

Strange because Task Manager should first start with standard user permission, and then from within Task Manager there's an option to "Show processes from all users", and that requires UAC.

What happens if you type taskmgr in the Windows start/search field, and then right-click taskmgr and select Run As Administrator? If you are logged in as an Administrator you should be able to see that option.

When you turn off UAC the programs will launch as administrator by default without any prompt, so that explains why that works.

Well, when I type taskmgr in the Windows search field, and then right-click taskmgr and select Run As Administrator it works well.
I think (correct me if I'm wrong) the only way to solve this problem, that setting the taskmgr.exe to defaultly start as administrator but I can't find any option to do it. Is there any way to do so?

I don't know. But you could create a shortcut on the desktop for it and then go to the properties for that shortcut and set it to start as administrator (the Advanced button in tab Shortcut). That should work.

Is Task Manager the only one that is a problem?

Glad I could help

FYI, there are better alternatives than Task Manager. I prefer Process Explorer, also from Microsoft, and doesn't require installation. There's a tutorial here that shows how to use it to easily check all processes with multiple antivirus products. And it has an option to replace Task Manager with it:
