Andrew, I have not seen or downloaded either of those two you mention.

Donna, it seems to be acting better however an MB scan showed an Asttromenda hit. Take a look at the scan log attached.

Go ahead and run mbam again and allow it to be quarantined. Then, please follow the instructions in post #36 again and attach the FRST.txt to your next post. An Addition.txt will not be generated, which is ok.

Wow! Those logs looks really good!! Did you run MBAM again and allow that one file to be quarantined?

Let's remove the tools we have used to remove these infections.

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.
  • Run the tool by right clicking on the icon and choose Run as administrator.
  • Make sure the following are checked:
    • Remove disinfection tools
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Click the Run button.
  • The program will run for a few seconds and display a notepad report.
Please save and attach the log to your next reply.

Let's check all software to see what might be out of date.
Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please attach the contents of that document in your next reply.

BTW since the virus issue started the fan has been running high and always on and still does. Used to be practically silent. Please advise too.

Thanks

You need to do the following:

Adobe flash:

What web browsers do you use/have installed? Uninstall any web browsers you do not use.
(make sure you uncheck the optional offers on the web page, if any are there)

If firefox: Go here to get flash latest version.
If chrome: Do not need to do anything, flash is built into chrome and is always up to date
-internet explorer: Go here

Programs and Features - Uninstall or Change a Program

-Uninstall java (it is a major security risk and the average user does not need it installed, if something does need it you can always install it and remove it later after finishing the task.)

-Make sure windows firewall is on under control panel-system and security-windows firewall (the log gave conflicting info) then click the restore defaults link on the left hand side.

-Defrag your hard drive. Here is how: Disk Defragmenter - Open and Use
