Are Windows Defender and Firewall good/sufficient?

I use Avast home for viruses. Is Defender a good spyware program? Is Windows Firewall sufficient to keep out intruders?

Generally speaking that should be just fine. But a lot depends upon the types of things that you do with your computer. For example, if you are a higher risk user and take chances with pirated software, porn sites, etc....then you might need stronger protection.

I use MSE (Defender built in) and Windows Firewall which are doing a fantastic job of keeping my PC clean. As already mentioned, it depends on your needs as to what is classed as good.
