Unable to create files

I'm on Win7 64-bit (admin account, my own computer) and I've just noticed that I'm not able to create new files in most of my folders/root's:
When I right- click, there is "Create" or "New" (I'm on a Swedish system, don't know exactly what it says in english). But when I click this, I can only choose "Folder". The options to create a shortcut, text- file or other files are gone.
I have several HDD's and some are blocked, some are not:
C: Not allowed to create in root, but it's possible in subfolders (ie. C:/folder)
D: Allowed to create files everywhere
E: Allowed to create files in SOME folders (ie. possible in "E:/folder" and NOT in "E:/Folder2") NOT in root
F: Allowed to create files everywhere
G: Allowed to create files in MOST folders (ie. possible in "G:/folder" and NOT in "G:/Folder2") NOT in root
H: Not allowed to create in root, but it's possible in subfolders (ie. H:/folder) (This is an old C:- drive)

Administrators have full access in each drive's preferences.

What should I do?
I'd rather not disable the UAC if I don't really have to..

I can create a file in root C: but might have done something special, can't remember. But it should be normal that you can't. So H: should be like that too (I guess).

Make sure you have a clean system: run AV/malwarebytes/ESET online etc scans

Don't bother messing with the permissions on the C: drive as it can cause problems.
But I would just give full control to myself in all data drives without hesitation. Either give administrators full control or your user directly. If H is now a pure data drive, then give full control to that one as well.

You say administrators already have full control so try adding your user account with full control instead.
Also check the problematic folders' permissions as the security inheritance can be broken.

I could keep the permissons for the C:/ root for now, but i'd like full access in the other drives.

The weird thing is that this is recent. I've always been able to create new files everywhere before. Have not made any updates or changes and I'm virus- free.


Did a quick check just now in a failing folder, and administrators did have full access (the access check- boxes were greyed out).
Added my user and gave it full access and it did the trick!
Same thing if I added permissions to my user in the entire drive (carried over to subfolders)!

However, I'd very much like to have full access with all admin users so that I won't be forced to add permissions to each user/drive/folder.
If anyone knows how, I'd be greatful.

Ah no, don't give your user full control on the failing folder, do it in root. Right click E: go into properties->security etc. There is a feature called security inheritance which if you give a permission somewhere it propogates to all child folders/files as well. So you just need to do it a couple of times.

However, this is a workaround. You can try:
- removing administrators from root drive and add them again with full control
- remove user again to see if this works

- You can also check if there are any "Deny" permissions on the failing folders, perhaps in Advanced portion.
