TPM for Bitlocker, do I not have one?

I upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate in the hope of changing my OS language and getting BitLocker.
However, my Bitlocker options are greyed out in terms of choosing unlocking mechanism. I can do USB key thing.
After doing some research, I need to enable TPM on BIOS and have a "Security Devices" under "My Computer" > "Device Manager".

I have 3 computers and two of them seem to have a "Security Device" under "Device Manager."
However the third one doesn't.

Is there any other way of getting TPM in? or is this something I have no other options on?

Hello sndlt,

TPM is a chip on the motherboard, if your motherboard has that feature.

If not, then you can still use BitLocker to encrypt the OS drive.

Hope this helps,

What is the brand and model number of the computer this is for?

I'll see if I may be able to verify if it has a TPM or not.

Thank you very much!!

If no TPM, would you know any closed-source enterprise alternative? (I already use diskcryptor and veracrypt for other stuff. But for laptop, I want something that has support contract). I tried symantec but failed.

I don't see a TPM available with it.

You can still use the tutorial I posted above to encrypt with BitLocker without a TPM though.

Yea I can enable bitlocker, but only with USB option. I prefer a pin/password.
But thanks for your time and effort.

I'm afraid that's the only option available for BitLocker without a TPM.

You could use 3rd party disk encryption software instead though. Here's one example that has a trial period to see how you like it.

Hi I have read quite a lot about Bitlocker, but still very confusing. I would like to ask several questions for confirmation: 1) Microsoft introduced that bitlocker can protect unauthorised access to the encripted drive. Does it mean that it also can act as an anti-virus? 2) i have just turned...
