    Security Tools Naming

    Hi guys and gals,

There is for example: Avira Anti-Virus Pro and Avira Internet Security OR AVG Anti-Virus and AVG Internet Security.

Question/Confusion: Do I need both security tools from the same company to be safe or does having just 1 of the two from either company is enough? And, can I install Avira Anti-Virus Pro alongside AVG Internet Security or vice-versa?

Thanks much guys and gals and hope to get answer/s soon.

    God bless,

Usually anything named Anti-Virus is "only" an anti-virus product, while Internet Security usually is anti-virus + other features like browsing protection, banking protection etc. Personally I recommend Internet Security. You can always compare the features of the products if you're unsure.

You should never have more than one "Anti-virus"/"Internet Security" product installed or they could interfere with each other. One of the few exceptions to that rule is the often recommended Anti-Malware from Malwarebytes that is meant to run along side a traditional anti-virus product. That is the premuim version with real-time scanning. The free version is basically only an on-demand scanner meaning it only scans something when you tell it to.
