I cant download files via browser

    Hi Guys
Happens when i always try to download from browser, i always this dialog box "These files cannot be opened. Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened" i watched a youtube video it says:
1.) Go to internet security settings
    2.) Go to custom levels
3.) scroll until you find "miscellaneous section"
4.) Select "launching applications and unsafe file"
    5.) Select "prompt"

As it said select "prompt" from "launching applications from unsafe files"
I cant because theres no "Disable" "Enable" and "Prompt" selection
Can someone pls help me show it? Tnx

Shooting into the dark here, I could be off-base, does the computer have one or more 3rd party internet security suties installed and running? One or more anti-spy/mal/pup-ware programs installed and running? Reason for asking: sometimes my own alligators in my castle moat are aggressive enough to prevent almost all traffic from shore to castle. After dialing down the security settings, sometimes removing an add-on or extension or two from within my browser, all works again.

    Virax,

Under Security tab, are you able to reset Internet Security settings by clicking:
Reset all zones to default level

    Virax,

We need to see what is gong on with that system...

Please use the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool.
Download: Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Download
Select the version that applies to your system.
    Save it to your Desktop.
Double-click the downloaded file to run it.
When the tool opens, click Yes to the disclaimer.
    Press the Scan button.

When done, the tool makes a log, FRST.txt, in the same directory from which the tool is run (Desktop).
Please attach the FRST.txt in your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it also creates another log: Addition.txt
Also attach the Addition.txt in your reply.

    Yes, we know that!!

What we do not know is just what is causing the issue. The FRST report may throw some light on the situation, or, then again, it may not.

In any event, my crystal ball is broken...

Do you have access to another computer?

If yes, then please follow the steps in post #5.
Those scan reports might lead us to a solution.

If you do not have access to another computer, then you might need to take your computer to a repair shop.
