Yes, registry keys/values/data can prevent installations. However, Microsoft (and other antivirus apps) protect some registry info in ways that I have never figured out. Symantec does the same thing. I'm hoping that Jacee has utilities that can clear away the remnants.

How do I get around the fact that my Desktop shortcuts will be erased every time the application is used?
Did you read this?... "Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser! This will also eliminate all desktop shortcuts, so just be aware!

These shortcuts will come back with your desktop background after rebooting! Please run TFC.

TFC (Temp File Cleaner) will clear out all temp folders for all user accounts (temp, IE temp, java, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari), including Administrator, All Users, LocalService, NetworkService, and any other accounts in the user folder.
It also cleans out the %systemroot%\temp folder and checks for .tmp files in the %systemdrive% root folder, %systemroot%, and the system32 folder (both 32bit and 64bit on 64bit OSs).
It shows the amount removed for each location found (in bytes) and the total removed (in MB).
Before running, it will stop Explorer and all other running apps.

When finished, the user must reboot to finish clearing any in-use temp files.

eliminate: completely remove or get rid of (something).

I interpreted eliminate to mean that the desktop shortcuts would be permanently removed.

    Perhaps the OP did too.

    For information.
Sure is a lot of junk in those logs.

Jacee I notice this in the logs post#12

    Key Found : [x64] HKCU\Software\Optimizer Pro
It might of already did it's dirty deeds.

@ Tallguy924 the programs Jacee has suggested will do what they should do if the instruction are followed.
I have use them many times on my computers.
You very well might have more problems that these programs are not designed to repair.
Before getting into other repairs one must be sure the operating system is properly activated and all the garbage is removed.
It's a step at a time kind of thing.

    Just follow Jacee's instructions.

I will go back to watching.

That is only part of the report log.

I believe that Jacee would like the complete report.

This tutorial by Brink should help you post the complete report here.

Unfortunately, all the investigative efforts have rendered themselves futile. I started out with this problem by the using the application you provided. Given that I thought that some of the actions you recommended may have changed things, I did, in fact, try to run it again and reinstall MSE - all to no avail.

    Any further insights?
