Looks much better.

Now, let's clean all temporary files: download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer Download - Geeks to Go Forum and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser! This will also eliminate all desktop (icons) shortcuts, so just be aware! They will come back after rebooting.

Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.

Important! Manually reboot the machine to ensure a complete clean.

Tell me how the computer is running now.

No add-ons or extensions running in the browsers, aside from AdBlock Plus which I installed in Firefox because the end user is very stupid about clicking on Malware bait ads. Computer seems much better in terms of speed/performance now. It's a bit slow playing some video in browsers but I think that's just due to the capabilities of the on-board graphics.

An additional pass of Adw came up completely clean, so I think it's all set.

Again, thanks so much for your assistance and prompt replies. I learned a lot.

You might warn user not to click on 'coupons and save $'s ads.

If you have the person's keyboard there, clean it with some "compressed air/gas duster". This might help with (some) slow computing.

LOL, yes I already covered both of those bases. I am sure in another 6 months it'll be filled up with bad decisions and dust bunnies again. Just that kinda user.

Highlighting multiple files too slow
Hi, When I want to select many files in a folder, I have to pause over each one for a while until it changes from a translucent shade to solid. This annoys the hell out of me as it slows me down when working in Windows. TBH, this was a problem in Vista as well, but I always seemed to fix it by...
