antivirus for Win7 & Linux Mint?

My current OS is Win 7 Pro 32 bit on one HD, but I'm thinking of installing Linux Mint 64 bit on an extra HD and alternating between the two.
I would only be using one OS at a time on alternate HDs.
What would be a good antivirus, free or paid, to cover both?
Or should I go for two different antivirus programs?
I currently run Norton 360 Premier, but I'm not sure if it works with Linux.
I have not actually installed Linux yet.
Tnx in advance for any help.

You might check the Linux Mint forum, but from my reading, many and possibly most Mint users do not use an anti-virus.

You will find some references to Clam anti-virus and Comodo CAVL.

    Advice you will hear:

    Avoid unreliable software repositories
Check frequently for updates to your distribution
Secure your web browser: avoid Flash and JAVA if at all possible.
Don't use WINE to run Windows applications on Linux.

Only a Linux AV product would work with Linux. Viruses are OS specific. Windows can't read common Linux file systems and Windows AV products know nothing of Linux viruses. Linux AV products know nothing of Windows viruses.

The need for an AV product for Linux is debatable. That may change in the future.
