Panda Cloud Antivirus Goes Final [free]

Quote:
Panda Cloud Antivirus was released as a public beta in April 2009. Almost seven months later, boasting millions of downloads and with the developer taking advantage of thousands of lines of user feedback, the application has reached its first final stage and is now released to home users. The reason behind all the user interest is that Panda Security broke the traditional antivirus pattern in terms of looks, form of protection (cloud-based scans) as well as costs to the user (it is free of charge for home users).

Among the fixes that have been operated in the latest edition of Panda Cloud Antivirus, we note repairs to scan process, Internet connectivity problem messages, no slowdown of the PC after installing the product, background scan has been improved, as well as management of quarantine and restoration of disinfected files.
The final detection rate ranking of the full collection of malware, taking into consideration updated sigs and products, is the following:
  1. Panda: 99.4%
  2. Avira: 98.9%
  3. Avast: 98.2%
  4. MSE: 97.8%
  5. AVG: 95.8%
  6. Comodo: 74.6%

I like its tiny clean interface. However, I wish they could have added web scanner and some settings into it.

No that's not true. It has something called as Collective Intelligence which stores a cache copy of all updates. It can even detect while offline.

This sounds cool, may well give this a try over MSE for a while. Is there a 64-bit version?

No native 64bit support. It installs it Program files(x86) folder and in task mgr, the processes shows *32 next to it.

I see what Dinesh posted below you, but I'm not sure why this would even be an issue though. Other than perhaps a virus being on a flash drive you inserted, 99.99999% of all viruses/malware that you could get would be from the Internet anyway, so if you are not connected for detection, you are not connected to actually get the virus in the first place right?

Today i came across the new Panda Cloud Antivirus from Panda Lab. It supports Windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit). The main window. Very neat and simple. Nothing's there in the settings tab. May be because its still in beta phase.
