ESET NOD32 is driving me insane:

There seems to be an exe file/process associate with this software named "ekrn.exe" at times will pop on and then off and then on and then off...within windows task manager. I learned of its association with ESET antivirus online.

When it goes on and off, it causes my computer to make a brief (processor) noise.
Its very low, but its consistent...and when i need complete quiet, it has nearly pushed me to hurling my Dell out of my 16th floor window.

Does anyone have any clue what I could do about this, short of finding a new antivirus?
I hear ESET is very strong so im trying to keep it...

Hello kwitel mate have a read of this ekrn.exe Windows process - What is it? and I would suggest an uninstall and then reinstall of the ESET software. Make sure that if there is a specific tool for removal you use that I don't rely on the Control Panel method of unistalling.
Another option is Revo to do that job because it does look in the registry where if the removal is not that good remnants are to be found. Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems < freeware version is as good as one needs.

    Hi,
I would try Panda free I've been using it now for 3 months or so and it's quite good
Along with mbam premium or free you should be set without eset..

Yep well I agree and if you want to go down that track all well and good except I have been with Kaspersky for six years now and never had any problems apart from it not liking certain add on free scanners.
It is also relatively cheap me I pay about $0.35 a day.
