Good, was just about to inquire about that. thanks for the clearup.
MSE and G-Data and would Malwarebytes count?

I havent been in to security much But wouldnt both Internet Security apps and Anti Virus apps detect the viruses when downloaded to my HDD?
edit: never mind, found out
Most AV suites will include some form of Web shield system to help protect against drive by infections though most will simply block, report, and request confirmation as to what you, the user, wishes to do with the file.
If you decide that the files are acceptable to download then it will allow this and normally allow you to mark them as safe for future download, (not a good thing in my opinion - the current file may be OK the next instance may not)
I have several files that due to their nature always trigger my AV sweeps as suspicious via heuristic analysis ( my use for these is in unlocking users systems in the process of my work )
One of the best sources of virals is to grab a number of keygens which can be found on various websites and software piracy forums (and no, I'm mentioning no names or links here!)
I know of no infections which physically fry hardware, as mentioned earlier in the thread, all such rumours are mentions by people whose kit failed for other reasons, or are perhaps not capable of disinfecting their machines competently.
That said, isn't it simpler to look at websites which already announce tables for you to make comparisons between the various security products the market offers?
Go to google and search for fake anrivirus software. Lookup terms like "Antivirus 2009/2010" and other terms.
Just go around downloading it no matter what it is.
Try and get infected with several downloaders. :)
