Yeah, i read about it in microsoft's official database. It looks pretty harmful, i'm currently running a regular scan of ESET, and after i've finished doing that, it's straight to the anti-rootkit. I hope this will remove it. I have no idea how i got this virus in the first place and how it can infect my computer when the virus is from 2003, but i hope the tools will remove it.

I am not a malware expert, but it's my understanding that this cannot be fully eradicated with any tool or tools.
If the ESET detection is correct, then it's my understanding that the only means to fully and safely remove a true file infector such as Sality is with a bare metal OS reinstall from clean media.

Others more expert in these matters will correct me, if I am wrong.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
Mostly because you believe you can keep viruses... out yourself is why you got infected :/
No real reason in the world a free antivirus program should not be used especially when there are quite a few good ones out there.
    Panda free just for 1.

Just did a bit of research which showed that Sality is Stuxnut. I'm screwed. Also, i got infected by a friend who played a little prank on me.

Can confirm, it's Win32/Sality.AT, it downloaded another trojan which the Microsoft report said it would.

You should show your friend your cleverness by restoring a system image
