I have viruses. Help me get rid of them.

Here is a link to my previous thread detailing this problem: Flash crashing/not working across multiple browsers

What I initially thought was a flash issue I now suspect is being caused by viruses. Hence the link. The last two of my posts are most relevant. Or feel free to read the whole thread. Thanks!

    Hi Throwaway,
Unfortunately you did not enable rootkit detection in the scan option.
Certainly sounds like one, as your having troubles with downloads, as well as Mbam dissappearing,
AND you said youd freshly installed W7, i suspect that the media you have used is itself infected.
you best bet is to Download a new version to >>another<< comp and use that to reinstall again.

Ya sounds about right. I didn't know rootkit detection was off by default. Let me try again.

Boot into safe mode, enabled root kit detection, found 3 things total, says they're removed, go back into normal Windows and the program is uninstalled again. Guess I will just reinstall if I have no other recourse.

Once you have a confirmed infection, a clean install is the ONLY safe way to get rid of it. Everything else has a chance of leaving some bad things out there, as you have no idea what the virus actually did.

Can confirm my pirated copy of Windows was the problem. Bought a legitimate key for $20 for OEM Windows 7 at http://www.play-asia.com. And after hours of searching finally found an archive of Microsoft's Digital River .iso's that they used to provide. If someone wants the link feel free to PM me.

Sorry to tell you this but you cannot buy a legitimate key for $20, Its will someday come back are non-genuine. A OEM home premium is about $100.00 or more at newegg.

You can not buy a Windows 7 activation key all by itself legally.
All legal COA keys for Windows 7 come with a legal media. (DVD from Microsoft)

$20.00 is 3 time cheaper that wholesale for Home Premium.

Cleanup your system and restore it. You can scan your system.

    1. Use Microsoft Safely Scanner webpage to download the scanner.
    2. Click download Now, and follow the instruction.
