MS Security Essentials Success

Please share you experiences with Security Essentials protecting the computer from viruses, malware, etc. Is this adequate for protection?
What about the approach of using a virtual machine window when surfing the net for extra protection? Any information would be appreciated...

i got my first system error after installing MSE, it took 15 minutes to update 1.5 hours to scan my 2TP system. uninstalled and using Avira free personal edition working like charm!

not really impressed with MSE,, there are far better free anti virus out there!

I have been using MSE since the first beta and now the ongoing beta and have had no problems at all with the program

In my experience with MSE it uses very little system resources while running scans so I don't notice any performance hit on my computer even when running a full scan in the background

a search of this forum will give you other examples of people's experiences with MSE....also googling /binging MSE reviews shows the product to get get generally very good reviews

with the good experience I have had using MSE I don't have any reason to switch back to Avast or Avira on my Windows 7 x64 machine

There's only one problem I have with using MSE which is my Internet speeds being reduced.
I have no idea why it effects it this way but I loose a whole
1.5mbs download speed aka from 7mbs to 5.5mbs using MSE in comparison to using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010.

I've tested this on Vista with the same results as well.
So I'm staying with KIS.
Other than that the protection is very good with MSE.
If you have tons of bandwidth & don't care about the loss then it's fine to run it.

I have had no problems with MSE, except for uninstalling it. It always throws an error.

I'm currently using MSE, and so far so good. I don't want to give Norton my money anymore.

MSE is not good at detecting and removing spyware.

I installed antispywarebot and it didnt detect it as a malware. When I ran a full scan, it found no harmful things. However, when scanned using MBAM and ESET, they both found and removed the malware.

P.S. : I installed antispywarebot purposefully to infect my pc. Dont try it yourself. It was a part of my testing fun.

My findings: MSE is an infant and still needs some more time. Just my two cents.
