    Avast Professional 4.8

Will Avast Professional 4.8 work on windows7 64bit? If so how do you like this suite of security? Is it worth the money? and are you happy with it?

    Thank you

Avast 4.8 should work just fine, though I never really cared much for the user interface. Version 5 has a much nicer looking user interface and adds a new feature called Virtualization (sandbox).

You might also want to consider Avira. I use Avira AntiVir Premium (v.9) on my Windows 7 64 bit desktop. Works great and is very light on system resources. I'm also beta testing Avira AntiVir Premium Security Suite 10, which adds thier new ProActiv behavior-based detection technology.

It works just fine on x64. You won't be able to run a boot time scan on x64 with it, but it's not a big deal. Pretty much the difference in the pro versus the free is you get scheduled scans, and one extra security module, a script blocker.

The Beta 5.- they've been working on is progressively getting better, the user interface is way better, it's being built into a more overall security suite. It's free as the beta, once it's finalized they will have a free version of it and a paid one just like the 4.- one is now.

    comparison between free and pro
