Port problems

I have several questions that I need to be answered please:

What are ports?
What is TCP and UDP?
Can we delete certain ports safely?

Because I was using NIS2010 and I had enough of it. I uninstalled it. I even ran the Norton Removal Tool. But there is still traces of it. Ports. I dont want to be connected with or through Symantec whatsoever can anyone help me out please. Thanks in advance.

Is this the tool you used to uninstall Norton 2010?
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton 2010 product

You might also want to take a look at this to manually complete the uninstallation

Have you tried going to the Windows Firewall in the control panel and unchecking the Norton stuff that you don't want to access the internet?
