    Windows Defender And AVG ?

    Hello,

    New HP desktop with Windows7.

Not great with all of this stuff.

I believe I am using now all of the MS anti-virus and Firewall that came on the PC.

Also, just found out that Windows Defender was not ON for some reason.
    Turned it On.

Question: On previous PC's used AVG Free.
Seemed to work quite well, but who really knows.

    Thinking of installing it also.

Will it conflict with Windows Defender ?

Is it a good idea to have both, or potentially conflictable, or really not needed with Windows Defender ?

    Thanks,
    Bob

MSE when installed becomes your default anti-malware program and turns Windows Defender off ....

I don't think AVG and Defender conflict.
I recommend MSE for your anti virus needs.

I'm using AVG Internet Securty 9.0. When I install AVG Windows Defender and Microsoft Firewall is disabled b/c AVG IS includes an antivirus and firewall. Since AVG Free only has the antivirus and not the firewall I would guess Microsoft Firewall should remain enabled, but Windows Defender will become Disabled.
