Equifax website down?
Hope this is the right forum....
I just want to ask anyone who reads this post wheather or not you can open the equifax website or not.I get a "problem loading page" message which says connection was reset and it just reloads perpetually.I ask because i was wondering if it is related to unauthorized charges that my credit card issuer caught yesterday being made on my mastercard in any way.I was going to the equifax website to request a fraud alert be placed on my credit reports as suggested in an ftc brochure i read when i ran into this coincidental issue.
I have an account with equifax that i use to get my credit report and fico score which is why i'm just checking to see if it's something that was blocked somehow by a malicious person, just a coincidence,or maybe equifax is just having website issues.I can get into experian and transunion websites,so i'm expecting this to be a pure coincidence(fingers crossed).I should add that i used firefox 3.5.5 and ie 8 to try and get into the website yesterday and i retried before writing this post with firefox 3.5.6 and ie 8).
Anyway, yesterday i did scans to check for any viruses, trojans, worms, etc. with avast, eset online scanner, malwarebytes, spybot s&d,superantispyware, threatfire, and windows defender.Nothing was found(that's known anyway).I went to the websites for all my security related software to see if they loaded and they did,so no confickers or anything related. My computer runs fine apart from some games crashing, but that's just me tweaking them and pushing the boundaries of my computers abilities. My mouse acting up here and there, but that's me being cheap and not getting a new mouse until this teetering on the brink of malfunction one goes really bananas to where it's no longer tenable to keep. There's no slowdown or popups,or any odd behavior suggesting an infrected computer.
So,how my mastercard was compromised i don't know.Intercepted order details after i push "submit order" button or corporate website hack i guess.Maybe it was compromised months ago and they just got around to using it.My computer doesn't seem to have any malicious software unless it's brand spanking new and not known yet by the various security firms.
Thanks for any help with this potential problem.Hope this is the right forum.I put it here just incase it is computer security related issue which would be the main concern of this forum and not id theft or credit card fraud per se except as applied to online security.
