Avast gives you rock solid protection !

Hi there, I plugged in a heavily infected USB drive on my Windows 7 lappy. I m very happy to see that Avast caught the Autorun.inf viruses and did not let my PC get infected.

Then I performed a right click context menu scan and here are the results.

100% performance..

I feel totally secured with Avast 5 beta and Im sure it will move all the paid AV's to the trash. Under 10 MB RAM usage, Avsat 5 beta is all you need to secure your PC.

Couldn't agree more. The only thing I wish I could change is what I paid for both Vipre as well as ESET. It's not that I don't like those products, but with something like Avast for FREE, why would anyone pay for AV software?

I still have 75 days with NIS 2010 and will probably try avast when it expires... Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah. I too have renewed my ESET license but unfortunately I never used it much. I have decided to use Avast henceforth on all my PCs.

sorry for a bit offtopic.

guys I see, you are using NIS 2010.
I am using it aswell, so I am just curious:
What you put on application ratings (Full scan, Standart, High trust? )

On Topic:
Dinesh, nice one.

Was it intended test or did it save your ass on real life scenario? (which would be really cool in a way)

I've happily used Avast for a long time before I switched to MS SE - I felt Avast has developed a bit into a mild resource hog dragging on system performance.

Really?

Avast uses fewer resources on my machine than MSE does - scans a little faster, and updates every 4hrs as opposed to 24.

There may be some kind of incompatibility with your machine, if you get those results.

I MUST try Avast 5!
One question: I read something about a "Safe Run" - Or something similar to sandboxie was included in Avast 5. Is this true, is it included in the free version? Or just the premium/Professional version? And, does it work on 64-bit? Thanks!
