NO PROBLEM HERE WITH MSE I HAVE HAD IT NOW FOR A GOOD MNTH OR SO REPLACED IT WITH AVG FREE, THIS HAS PROBABLY BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE IN THE FORMS PUT IF ANY OF YOU ARE WORRIED THAT THE VIRUS DEFINITIONS ARE NOT BEING DOWNLOADED THEY ARE, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE WINDOWS UPDATE SET TO AUTOMATICALY DOWNLOAD THE DEF FILES THEY ARE BEING DOWNLOADED ON AVERAGE TWICE A DAY THE ODD TIME THREE TIME'S DAILY PUT THATS FEW AND IN BETWEEN JUST GO TO WINDOWS UPDATE -UPDATE HISTORY ON THE LEFT SIDE AND CLICK THE UPDATE HISTORY YOU WILL FIND THAT THEY WILL BE THERE ALSO I HAVE MINE SET FOR AUTO SCAN AROUND 8.00AM AND IT DOES IT FAITHFULLY AROUND THAT TIME WITH IN THE HR ANYWAY IT'S NOT BAD At ALL NOT SURE YET IF IT COMPARES WITH AVG FREE PUT I WOULD SAY AT THE PRESENT ITS PRETTY DARN CLOSE AS GOOD ANYWAY IN MY MIND ANYWAY, I WOULD MOST DEFINANTLY GIVE IT A TRY GUYS. I SET MINE FOR FULL SCAN I FEEL SAFER THAT WAY PRETTY SIMPLE ANTE VIRUS SOFTWARE PUT WORKS GOOD -FAST SCANNER THATS FOR SURE. PS- AS FOR THE CAPS LOCKS FORGIVE ME AND I WILL TRY MY BEST NOT TO LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL -CAPS LOCK'S CAPTAIN OVER AND OUT- AT LEAST IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE FINDING YOUR GLASSE'S YOU WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM READING MY POST-RIGHT.

Sorry but could you please re-post this not using all Capital letters, I gave up after the first couple of sentences as it was too difficult to read as it was.

Posting as you have is the equivalent of shouting plus making it very hard to read for some people.

Word has a useful "change case" button. Took about 10 seconds, resulted in the translation above.

Zaine1 is making a useful point in reponse to a question posed on this forum - does MSE auto-update? Zaine1 says it can be made to do so, so thanks friend for a helpful post

I've always been curious about this, anyone have any info on who it was that set the internet standard for the all caps was considered shouting or whatever? I don't do it but personally it's never bothered me.

Updates may be released twice or three times a day.
But updates are downloaded only once a day through Windows Update (in your case only at 8.00 am)
Unless you will install or check windows update manually.

I use MS Security Essentials and it updates automatically, very happy with it.

Ive set mine to update at 3am while im asleep.

I am new to Windows 7 and MSE. I cannot get it to update defs automatically. Whenever I boot, MSE says my definitions are up to date but if I select UPDATE it always does a new download. I can set MSE for an automatic scan but cannot find where I can set it for automatic update. What am I doing wrong?

Thing is updates are released more then once a day.
As far as I know MSE dose definition update on scheduled scan, so it's only once a day (if you put)
But you can also put scheduled Windows Update which will update MSE aswell.

So updates will be twice a day..
And if you want your MSE most up-to date, you can do manual updates now and then when you are free. (I used to do it even with McAfee or NIS which had auto updates almost every 3-4 hours anyway)

I have a question regarding MSE. I just got my new laptop about 5 weeks ago and it came with a Norton 360 disk. I have had Norton in the past and have had good luck with it so I dumped the pre-installed McAffee and installed the Norton 360. It has worked flawlessly, and runs in the background without a noticeable draw on my system resources. I guess what my question is would it be beneficial to supplement my Norton with MSE, for extra protection, or would they not play nice together? Or, would it a waste of time and resources to run two programs? I have seen a few posts where people don't recommend using Norton, but so far it is working well for me. Thanks in advance for any replies and or opinions. Have a great day!!

first let me tell u those who r saying norton is a resource or not recommending it.. its because of their past experience .. they didnt tested norton new version ie 2010...

mse can run with norton 360 .. but i personally dont recomend it.. because i was using nis2010 with mse .. all viruses caught by mse also caught by norton... so there z no need for 2 av...

although u can use MBAM or superantispyware or a2 squard with norton
