I didn't mean to sound like i don't believe what happened for your update.
I just wanted to point out my experience.

I would not like it if I found Chrome or any new software on my PC that i don't want after an Avast (or ANY program) update.

I appreciate your sharing this, and will keep an eye on this with future updates ...

Thanks,
David

I also have not seen this behavior either from Avast, while using it for 4years so far.

Actually it is the first time I've heard of this happening.

Over on the avast! forums there are many complaints about machines not being able to boot after installing the latest update. They seem to have x64 architecture in common.

It does seem when a version goes final the devs abandon the current version and start working on the next version as with most a/v software when people report major bugs they dont get fixed until the next major version a year later.

I am not sure why they feel the need to release a new major vrsion every year and especially with a gui overhaul, it seems the focus is on the wrong things.

There is also a Browser Cleanup tool; it's a great utility for getting rid of invasive toolbars.
In addition, avast! Ad Blocker is introduced; this feature allows you to block ads, simple but nice :-)

Other improvements have been made to our FileRep and WebRep to help keep identify new threats in near real-time.
And finally, our Streaming Updates make sure you have the lastes virus definitions.
