    Hi, xhtml.

Please try the suggestions below that I located at MicrosoftAnswers. If this works, I suggest you close the topic here.
Make sure that wireless key on the laptop is enabled.
Make sure that wireless signal is strong on the router.
You may try running the Network Troubleshooter and check if that fixes the issue.

Follow the steps to run Network Troubleshooter:

    1. Click Start.
    2. Click Control Panel.
    3. Click on Network and Sharing center.
    4. Click on troubleshoot Problems.

This might be a problem with the drivers for the network adapter on the computer; you may require updating the drivers for the network adapter and check, following the steps below to update the drivers:

    1. Click Start.
    2. Type in Device Manager in the Start Search.
    3. Expand Network Adapter.
    4. Right click on the Device.
    5. Click on Update Drivers.
    6. Click OK.

Now check if the issue persists or not, if the issue persists, you may try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the device from the manufacturer’s website and check if that fixes the issue.

Refer the link: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

    1. Double-click on the "WiFi Connection" icon. It can be found in the system tray at the bottom of the laptop screen.
    2. Click on "Properties."
    3. Select the "Wireless Networks" tab.
    4. Use the "Add" button at the bottom of the dialog if your WiFi network isn't in the "Available Networks" section.
    5. Click on "Configure" when you see your network's SSID in the "Available Networks."
    6. Enter your network's SSID and WEP key.
    7. Click on "Start," then choose "Connect To" and "Wireless Network Connection." Your computer should now be able to access the WiFi network. If the WiFi network is connected to the Internet, it should also be able to connect to the Internet.

If the issue still persists, then I suggest that you reset the router and set a new password key and check.

You may also try disabling the security software temporarily on the computer and try connecting to the wireless network, ensure to enable the security software on the computer.
Please let us know how you make out.

mvp, thanks for yr help. i tried it out still no luck. now i ve got the latest driver from the intel site. i m fed up now... just few time of connection it s dead for internet.
however if i restore to the previous point... it works again.

however i noticed sth, when the win firewall goes crazy like in the screenshot, it s time for the error. with that windows firewall, i cannot restore it to default setting or any other things at all. in the same computer and hardware, i tried vista, all things with WiFi work so okay.

or is it the matter of the Win7 OS itself? i used the ultimate version (OEM)...?
    Thanks

Have you installed the driver in compatibility mode. Sometimes you need to do that just in case.

    Hi, xhtml.

You can check that your wifi adapter is compatible with Windows 7 at Windows 7 Compatibility Center home. If it is not on the list, you may be best off contacting the vendor, particularly since you apparently have the same issue with Windows Vista. (For information on compatibility mode see Make older programs run in this version of Windows.)
