    Prevx3 ?

I'm trying it out in the free version so far. Running well along side NOD32 antivirus4. Anyone here got any input on it. So far I'm liking what I see. Size on Disk 6.20 MB.

Yes, I purchased the paid version of Prevx and currently use it alongside Avast Beta 5. Both work great together. I had previously used Prevx with Nod32 as well as Vipre and had no issues.

Keep in mind that the free version will only detect malware. The paid version is needed to remove it.

I did some research on Prevx on the web a while ago when it was recommended to me. Outside of Wilders Security forums, you'll rarely see a good thing written about this company.

I looks as if their free version may be scareware, overreacting to bully users into buying the free version with false-positives. Recently the company responsible for Prevx wound up with egg on their face when they accused Microsoft of causing the 'Black Screen of Death' with an official update. It turns out that either malware, or Prevx itself was responsible for the issue. Ed Bott of ZDnet put together a full story here, which he concludes with the statement: "As for Prevx, they deserve to be laughed out of the security commmunity for their role in this fiasco."

Recently, there has also been speculation that Prevx has engineered and released their own malware into the wild. Conveniently, initially the only software that could remove the Suverasu malware was Prevx, but "After careful inspection of this malicious file, it was apparent that the threat may very well have been created by the same company that offers its removal."

So Prevx doesn't sound like a company you'd want to give your money to - let alone a company who's software you'd want to install on your computer.

EDIT: Also, major lols at the poll options. Would you say it's a good poll? Or the greatest poll?

I use Hitman Pro as it includes Prevx with many other engines. However, Hitman Pro wont offer real time protection like Prevx.

Thanks for the info Carbonyl, I will be checking into it a little more to see what I may decide on as for the purchasing of this product or not.

I've heard this from a few people.

Personally for me, never had a single false positive. Guess I've been lucky.

Overall I would rank this a decent product. It's good as an addition to another AV in my opinion. As for claims of it being "scareware", the free version offers free detection of malware. You don't have to buy their product if you don't want to, to remove the malware. You can use any other software like Malwarebytes as an example.

I liked Prevx enough overall to buy the full version and have it running in realtime and also remove anything it finds.
