    Windows 7 Security Center Alerts


    I have unchecked everything from security center(like AV, firewall etc.) but I wanted to get rid of the security center icon from system tray altogether so I disabled it in services.msc. Now it gives me alert that security center is disabled. Is there any way to get around this and get rid of the security center from systemtray altogether?

    Hello DFS,

    Do you mean the Action Center instead? This is the replacement of Security Center from Vista in Windows 7. If so, then unchecking all of the notification messages in the tutorial below should stop it for you.

    Action Center - Change Message Settings

    You can also turn off the Action Center icon in System Icons.

Hello to all, Had a little red x appear on the action center flag, telling me that security center won't open. Tried everything, but no joy. If the file/service is corrupt can I download/overwrite this and fix it? If not can I survive without it? Thanks.

Action Center alerts says that Norton reports that it is turned off and a second one that Windows and Nort6on firewalss are turned off. When I check they are actually ON!! There is no date information when these alerts were generated and I can't find anywhere to reset the alert or acknowledge it...
