Real time Protection -- This one WORKS

    Hi there
as a Tecnet suscriber I've been using MS'es Forefront Client Security (it's the big brother to MSE) -- very small footprint, definitions updated almost daily and it really works well.

It can be installed in Stand alone mode on individual work stations and that's what I've done.

For technet suscribers I'd recommend this - as it's Corporate Strength security. Non technet suscribers can trial it for 120 days too.

Here's the Real Time protection options you can select.

IMO this piece of software tops all the others out there currently and certainly doesn't hog the machine at all.

    Cheers

I am as we speak installing it. I do wonder given it is circa 2007, how win 7 compliant it is.

    Hi there
I'm running fine on W7 X-64 Enterprise -- totally no probs.

Note that if on a stand alone workstation you don't need to use the "central server delivery mechanism" -- it installs fine in "Stand alone mode".

Definitions are updated DAILY from what I see too.

I made a post some months back of the exact procedure for installing on a stand alone workstation if you get stuck --it's in the archive somewhere.

    Hi I found the post

Ms Forefront Security - Installs in W7. FREE trials

    cheers

    Hi, jimbo45.

I think it is important for everyone to realize that Microsoft Security Essentials uses the very same definitions that Microsoft Forefront uses. Information on the latest definitions is available at the MMPC Portal: Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center
