You can basically make any spyware program just a scanner. Just turn off scheduled scans. You can make Windows Defender solely a scanner. If that is what you are asking.

www.majorgeeks.com has a great list of anti-spyware programs as well as lots of other "useless crap"

Yeah should only use ComboFix if the infection still persists after the other scanners have done their job.
