MSE not showing up in taskbar Sometimes when I boot up MSE doesn't show up in my taskbar. I set it to always show up, but it still doesn't. When I run MSE it says it is monitoring my computer and I am protected. Just wondering if there is any cause to worry over this? | My System Specs |

Maybe it is behind the little arrow "show hidden icons". If yes, just drag it from there to the taskbar. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

No, that is what I am talking about. It is usually in the little bubble or hidden icons but isn't there sometimes (such as now) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x86 Motherboard AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL56 1.8 GHz Memory 4096MB (2 x 2048) DDR2 667mhz Corsair Graphics Card ATI Radeon® X1200 128MB-319MB dynamically allocated shared g Sound Card Realtek Monitor(s) Displays 15.4” diagonal widescreen TruBrite®TFT LCD display at 1280x8 Screen Resolution 1280x800 Mouse Logitech G7 Case Targus Hard Drives Internal HD: 250GB (4200RPM); Serial ATA HDD

Try this. Make a shortcut of MSE on the desktop. Then type shell:startup into the Start/search field and hit Enter. That brings up the startup folder. Drag the MSE shortcut into that folder and close the folder. From now on, MSE should start whenever you reboot and it should show in the notification area or bubble. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

shortmantuff,
I find that very unusual and am glad that you have a fix for the problem.
Do have any idea what you may have done to cause the problem? This is just curiosity.

karl It can happen if you disable startup items in msconfig or via any 3rd party program. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Samsung NP530U4B-S02IN OS Windows® 8 Pro (64-bit) CPU Intel® Core™ i5 Processor 2467M (1.60GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) Motherboard Samsung Electronics Memory 6GB DDR3 System Memory at 1,333MHz (on BD 4GB + 2GB x 1) Graphics Card AMD Radeon™ HD7550M 1GB DDR3 (Ext. I didn't disable startup programs though. MSE loads at start-up and says it's working. It just wouldn't show up in the hidden taskbar. I'm not sure how I did it. It just happened one day. Then, all of a sudden it started appearing again. Then, today is disappeared again. Not sure what I did. I was trying to get Toshiba Software Upgrades to work today because that hasn't been working and a guy suggest booting in safe mode and such and once I came out of safe mode and into normal, MSE wasn't in the hidden taskbar again. Not sure why it happens. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x86 Motherboard AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL56 1.8 GHz Memory 4096MB (2 x 2048) DDR2 667mhz Corsair Graphics Card ATI Radeon® X1200 128MB-319MB dynamically allocated shared g Sound Card Realtek Monitor(s) Displays 15.4” diagonal widescreen TruBrite®TFT LCD display at 1280x8 Screen Resolution 1280x800 Mouse Logitech G7 Case Targus Hard Drives Internal HD: 250GB (4200RPM); Serial ATA HDD

shortmantuff,
Many thanks for explaining what happened. Actually, I also ran into problems with the Toshiba Update package.
I ended up uninstalling everything involved there, downloading, one-by-one, the updates I wanted and not installing some of the "utilities" which duplicate features already present in Windows 7. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite S875D-S7239 laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD A10-4600M Motherboard AMD Pumori (Socket FT1) Memory 6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-12-28) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7660G Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz) Screen Resolution 1600x900@60Hz Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives SSD 119GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device Internet Speed What the local pub, local coffee shop offers. Okay, so it's been a long time since I posted this but I was just wondering what you didn't install karl? I still am unable to get Toshiba Software Update to work and was wondering what duplicate programs you decided to uninstall? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite A215-S4757 OS Windows 7 Home Premium x86 Motherboard AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL56 1.8 GHz Memory 4096MB (2 x 2048) DDR2 667mhz Corsair Graphics Card ATI Radeon® X1200 128MB-319MB dynamically allocated shared g Sound Card Realtek Monitor(s) Displays 15.4” diagonal widescreen TruBrite®TFT LCD display at 1280x8 Screen Resolution 1280x800 Mouse Logitech G7 Case Targus Hard Drives Internal HD: 250GB (4200RPM); Serial ATA HDD
