Is it worth me buying an AV? Hello, I just joined SF, and quite recently updated my OS to Windows 7 Pro, and learnt that norton 360 2.0 isn't compatible (I had about 3 months left). Right now I've got the free version of COMODO firewall and AV.
2 questions, should I ever buy an antivirus/360 styled product ever again and a lot of people recommend MSE on here, and I see hardly anybody talking about COMODO, which one should I be using?

Welcome!
Personally, I don't see a need to purchase anti-virus software. MSE is a very good AV, and my favorite. Avast is also very good.
Now MSE is not a firewall. Personally, I only use the built-in Windows firewall, but if you have a different opinion, Comodo is a good third-party firewall.
Here is a link for MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
Good luck!

If you still have a Vailid Norton Licence and were wanting to stick with it:
You can just upgrade.
It doesnt cost anything to upgrade to newer versions with a valid subscription. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k (4.5Ghz) Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 2x4GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks (@1866) Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SuperClocked (1280MB) Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T (SE White) Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives [OS SSD]Intel 320 (80GB) -- Intel X25-V (40GB) --WD Black (1TB)x2 -- WD Blue (640GB) Other Info LG BD/DVD |

In your opinion, do you rate the Windows firewall over the Comodo one? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell OS Windows 7 Professional Memory 1GB + 2GB of ReadyBoost Graphics Card 2400 ATI Radeon Monitor(s) Displays Dell 19 inch Hard Drives 250GB Dell Internet Speed 11mb/s |

It depends on how you rate it. Performance wise, the Windows firewall takes the cake, because it is built-in to the OS. Third-party programs are extra.
So the Windows firewall will not affect boot times and the like, at least noticeably.
Security wise, I imagine Comodo will be better. I have never used it, but why else would it exist? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Jonathan King OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 4850e overclocked @ 2.90 GHz Motherboard ASRock A780 FullDisplayPort Memory 6.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 290MHz Crucial Technology Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Wired Desktop 500 (PS/2) Mouse Microsoft Wired Desktop 500 (USB) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w Modular Case Antec 300 Cooling stock cpu, 120mm hard drive bay fan Hard Drives WD 320GB SATA, Hitachi 1TB SATA, Samsung 1.5TB SATA Internet Speed 25 Mb/s download; 1 Mb/s upload |

If you use a router, the router firewall will be your first defense anyhow. After that, the windows firewall should suffice. And MSE is my favorite too. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway - 2 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to 2.5GHz Quad Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse terrible devices, who wants them Hard Drives 5x HDD, 2x SSD, 6x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

I am toying with the idea of unistalling comodo firewall and just using the built in one from windows 7, i have a router with a firewall. I also just installed MSE too. Will i notice any difference in performance with just using windows firewall? Also is it worth using the extra Windows Firewall control program that can be downloaded to add more functionality to teh firewall? | My System Specs | | Is it worth me buying an AV? problems?
