Why was my PC running when I woke up?

A weird thing has just happened: last night, like every other night, I sent my PC to
hibernation (by pushing the on/off button on the case) before I went to bed. I
waited for the cooling fans to stop and the screens to go blank, so I'm sure it was
    off.

But this morning it was running. I was wondering how that could be.

There was no blackout (the microwave's clock was working alright) and nothing fell
on the "ON" button on the case.

The only thing out of ordinary I can remember was an orange icon next to the
shutdown button. I noticed it earlier that day but forgot about it.

I checked the logs and it looks like that the system started around 3am.

I really hope there is a technical explanation and I'm not sleepwalking...

We have a cat but we don't let her up here during the night because she gets bored
and starts to chew on my nose.

EDIT: Also it's not possible to turn on the PC from the keyboard.

    hi !

i had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago, my computer started at 03.00
and i was sleeping, having a very nice dream about a nice girl....

so i said some 4-letter words and then just pulled the power cable.
later that evening i found the problem, i had set my antivirus to do a scan at 03.00,
and since there is a setting under control panel/system to "allow processes to wake the computer" (or similar), it started as scheduled.

it was called something like that, i can´t tell right now since i´m not at home at the moment, but i can check when i get home.

A lot of automatic services, including Windows Update, are scheduled to run in the wee hours of the morning.

A orange icon could be indicative of pending Updates.

Hmm... I do have a task in NOD32's scheduler to run "log maintenance" at 3.00 am. But
I had NOD32 like forever and never woke the PC up. Especially that it wasn't in "sleep"
mode but in hibernation with full POST during boot and stuff, really cold shutdown.

So I suspect that the fact that this antivirus task ran at 3:01am is the result of the
PC being running and not the cause of it.

Are there some logs I should take a look at?
