avast or norton

    just wondering what better?

    NIS 2010 is far better. But its not free either.

    I would recommend Norton Internet Security 2010 also, but not Norton Antivirus. If you're going to pay for it get the full package. I used NIS 2009 and now NIS 2010 and one of the big pluses is low impact - it doesn't slow down the computer. I don't think there's another suite available that's "lighter". It often goes on sale too (rebates) so check around.

    Avast! is just as light (and in some cases lighter) than Norton. Both are very good at protecting a system (nothing can protect 100%).

    I would recommend either-or. If you go with Avast! I recommend just using the free version.
