Windows 7: What's the Best Anti-virus?

I was on AntiVir and had to switch, i'm now on AVG but it doesn't seem to scan network folder, surprising as all others did... Also it doesn't got an "ignore" choice for each detected file which is quite annoying, which of the good free ones still offer that?

Safe

I tried paid and free and the best so far is the MSE. Reason why it's the best is there's no Blue Screens, always stable and when used with WIN 7 firewall with TinyWall firewall
It seems the 'TinyWall' does the most stopping of the Malware, you can see the 'Blocked Connections' list tab and does it with no pop-ups. Since MSE is free and works good with it's 'Mother Ship' Microsoft it's simple and works.
Try this set-up if you want to compare, it's all free.

Well i tried MSE and sorry but it's terrible... Why? CPU usage up to 50% (quad core i7..) if not more when browsing folder with lot of exe (or maybe any files..) so it's the worst to me!!!

This is the first time I've heard of performance (50% CPU) with MSE.
I don't doubt you, but I would wonder "why only me" if I see that on my PC...

I use MSE on an old dual core AMD Athlon 5600+, and it performs very well

Same here, MSE on my system runs scans while I'm on the internet and I don't even notice it. I scheduled scans to run when I'm not on the system, but sometimes I have to be on it the same time. I wonder if low amont of RAM would cause it?

Hum my Kaspersky is a miser and the Comodo (which now has a changed GUI) is pretty frugal too - I use it for fixes for my not so well off workmates (junior nurses)

I used to use MSE for awhile, and started having problems with it crashing.......have been running Avast! for a few months now and have had ZERO problems with it. It is a complex bit of software, but is heavily automated so you don't have to tinker with it much. Never bothers me either, which is what I prefer.

I just reformated my PC and Insatalled NIS 2013. Had tons of trouble with it and they wouldnt let me go back to 2012 which had been perfect. Red X at startup, critcila error crashes overnight, failed updates etc.
I had renewed my key and support said the keys were different for 2013 that I counldnt go back. Then wanted me to exaplin my issues and how to reproduce them LOL.

It irritated me as I need it to work now. With no option to roll back until fixed I ditched NIS altogether and went to Kaspersky Pure.
So far very good.
Love the built in sandbox. And I like the PW Manager better than Nortons Identity Safe IMHO, once set up. The auto fill and sanboxed browsers are nice.
But, its method of putting the DATA in is a bit odd as it seems to need to be done manually. Whereas with Norton you log in and just save that log in.

Hiyya Wishmaster I'll PM you a config for KIS that I have been using for years in the different forms from 2011 - 2013. You can use a lot of the config for PURE which I found rather fiddly but good. I really like the safe money and the current GUI in KIS so easy and canbe made very personalised.

Oops forgottomention in KIS 2011 - 2013 the config's are saved automatically as per the instruction in the original config.
