Very resource hog!

for daily use, I'm using ESET. Hasn't fail me till now
I have and use Norton, MSE uses more resources. I've tried both.
Really? i thought MSE will be lighter than Norton?

I know this is a pretty generic question and there's no real answer but I want to hear some opinions. What's a good paid anti virus I can use if I do a lot of shopping online and maybe check the bank. Been thinking about upgrading because I think free isn't going to cut it. Using comodo internet security free atm which comes with a anti virus like a normal free one but with comodo firewall running at the same time. BTW I use a wireless connection in my home for my desktop, not pratical I know but I want something to protect my connection there too.

I personally don't think paid is needed. If you want a suite, it may be easier, but the free AV perform as well generally

People swear by Kaspersky, Eset is said to be good, as is Bitdefender paid.

You can try the free version for Android as well and a paid version there should be a free trial and as you seen uses very little resources

I like avast but the interface is too complicated in my view. too many options... plus avast wants an email addy to use it beyond 30 days. I entered a fake email which seems to work. lol

MSE has a much simpler interface. Since I've been working on PCs for clients, seems that spyware/adware is the big problem on the web for windows based PCs... every PC Ive worked on has been loaded with spyware. only 1 had a virus.

I have been using Zone Alarm Free antivirus + firewall for over a year now (old desktop, latest desktop and Laptop) with no infections or problems, not saying its the best but I'm happy with it

I recall using zone alarm firewall years ago, it was a good program but too intrusive for my liking. it became annoying so I removed it. maybe I'll take another look. thanks.

Hello all,
This is my first post on these forums, but I just felt i needed to throw out my two cents as well.
Personally, i have been using VIPRE for the last probably 4 years or so and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. In fact, I put it on all of my family's computers, and install in on the ones I work on for other people. Its not a resource hog, and its not hugely expensive. You can buy multi licenses for multi years and it works out to be pretty cheap. Plus, the website Best Antivirus Software Reviews | Compare Top Programs offers discounts that can be applied to the regular pricing. (discounts for all the various softwares can be found there, not just for vipre)

I will say that it was a better program 3-4 years ago, before they got kind of popular and started to gear the interface more towards looking snazzy. But even with the few added slow down items, it still is far and away the best I have used. (And I have used Kapersky, Panda, Bit Defencer, Norton, McAfee, Zone Alarm, and others thru out my life)

Test your anti-malware/anti-virus protection with EICAR
As many of you know(quite a few don't) what EICAR is, this is a open poll to see what programs pick it up and what programs fail the basic tests. I am conducting this poll because A-Squared failed to see this on a scan, but MSE picked it up before it could be downloaded. So after you take...
