i ended up using mse because avira kept blocking mw2 from connecting to severs even when i allowed it through the firewall and i tried avast before but virus got past it and i end up cleaning it with malwarebytes
Just a suggestion MIGU if you want something different not that MSE is no good it is but I have been testing out the free Comodo Premium - top firewall and easy to configure. Mind you you have to put up with some sales nagging - at first.
i could give it a go but if it blocks me from playing im going to take it off see i play the mw2 version with the custom client alterinet because i find it much better then inffintywards mp were it acts like xbox with no severs and with this one i get severs which is much nicer but il'l give it a go

Hum as I aid mate you will get some nagging oh and disable Geek Buddy don't uninstall it, and once you "allow" whatever - unless it is something really suspicious then it's up to you to use your own judgment I follow CIS advice. the Comodo will just kick in on the new and apps you have already on board.

There are settings that you can set to trust but I never use them unless I am 1000% sure.

No probs MIGU - Free Desktop PC Security - Free Downloads Keep your PC Safe | Comodo hit the download to "save" in your downloads.

As a precaution as always get rid of any security already on board before installing CIS to prevent conflicts.

Once installed bring up the GUI go to "More" click on update database (definitions) let it install those - takes a while first time, then config how you want it.

Malwarebytes does not upset it so that is fine although I do set mine to the settings as in the pic.

Any queries message me - will be out in about two hours from now.
Oh meant to say it will ask you to scan - up to you first one takes a fair while so best left for a time when you can lt it run for a while.

Mate is this iw4mp.dat file something to with gaming? - have no idea myself as I don't game. plenty of refs in a Google to having to download it again etc if it is something you need.

Also are you saying that trying to get Comodo is being stopped by this fault - am a bit confused as to what it is you are trying to do now.

its a file assocated with the game, comodo will stop it from loading every time i try to launch it ,tried doing what some dudes said on this other forum by giving it rights still wont let me so its somthing with the comodo firewall, apparently altriwnet the client i'm using for modern warfare 2 isn't to friendly with firewalls expect windows firewall. Alot of other people been having this problem even with different firewalls and antiviruses
    http://alteriw.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=72172

This was they said to do but still doesn't work don't know what im doing wrong
    http://alteriw.net/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=20604#p176924

ill keep trying it and see if i can resolve it and if i cant then i go back to MSE or try different ones and see which lets me play

anyways what i'm trying to say is the connection to the multi player can't get through the firewall due to the file being blocked from connecting with the internet to establish a connection

got it to run using sandboxed but then i can't use my other application that tracks my gaming hours and allows me to chat with my friends ingame its called xfire kinda like how steam has a user interface ingame

Did you add iw4mp.dat and iw4mp.exe to the Comodo allowed or exception list?

Windows Security Essentials is decent because it is designed with Windows in mind - I have it installed and it does not take up resources on my machine. In the past I have used Kasperky which I am pleased with - however it is a bit heavy. I would not trust NOD 32 anymore - it used to be a great antivirus some 5 years ago - not any longer - too many false positives.
